About St Aloysius Catholic Primary School

Ìý

As the diocese newest primary school and an integral part of the Immaculate Conception Parish Morpeth, St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, Chisholm aims to build a positive, faith-filled learning culture where students grow both in their faith and as confident, courageous and collaborative learners.

St Aloysius uses contemporary evidence-based learning and teaching that is personalised and responds to the learning needs, interests and experiences of each student and empowers them with the knowledge, skills and capacities to respond creatively to the challenges of their world.

As the winner of the Emmaus Award for Excellence in Community 2018, the school has a variety of initiatives to give students the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others through words and actions and to build and serve the community. These include social justice initiatives such as Mini Vinnies; Environmental Education and STEM projects and a Creative Arts program.

St Aloysius has been architecturally designed to incorporate the natural landscape into outside learning opportunities, with classrooms providing natural light and utilising natural colours and timber surfaces. Flexible furniture, modern technologies and facilities and a central courtyard and playground area provide a sense of community and create a stimulating and adaptable learning environment.

Participation, enjoyment and skill development are the cornerstones of the school sport/physical activity program. Students have the opportunity to participate in swimming and athletics carnivals and Gala days and competitions in a variety of sports including rugby league, touch football, netball, basketball, soccer and cricket. All students participate in weekly PE/sports lessons with a specialist teacher and in a variety of skill based workshops supported by the Sports in Schools Australia program.

As an inclusive school, St Aloysius employs a Learning Support Teacher who works with students who have recognised learning disabilities. Students are also well supported by the school psychologist, Pastoral Care Worker, Aboriginal and EAL/D teachers as well as our Defence School Transition Mentor. St Aloysius is also a Gifted Education Lead (GEL) school, with a Gifted Education Mentor (GEM) who works with staff to support the needs of identified gifted students.

provides before and after school care and vacation care in a fun, safe, supportive and inclusive environment onsite at St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, where children can play, explore, be creative and use their imagination.
